The Thruxton 400 is Triumph's cafe racer in the sub-500cc category. Inspired by Triumph's flagship Thruxton, the Thruxton 400 mimics the modern-retro spirit of its larger sibling pretty well.
The Thruxton 400 is the latest addition in Triumph's 400cc lineup in India. It's a cafe racer with a semi-fairing inspired by the flagship Triumph Thruxton.

What this motorcycle is?

Triumph brings the iconic Thruxton name to its 400cc lineup with the introduction of the Thruxton 400 - a semi-faired caferacer based on Triumph’s 400cc platform.

Conceptually as a caferacer, the Thruxton has always been the sportiest motorcycle in Triumph’s Bonneville lineup with its chassis, suspension, engine, and the riding ergonomics tuned for more aggressive and sporty riding experience.

The Thruxton 400 is built on similar ideology. The same 398cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine is in its most powerful version yet with 42 PS of power on tap at 9,000 RPM. The torque is unchanged at 37.5 NM but it also comes at a higher 7,500 RPM. There's ride by wire throttle along with slip-assist clutch.

The riding position mimics a sports bike’s riding stance with low and narrow clip-on handlebars and the foot-pegs set even more backwards compared to the ones on the Speed 400. A semi-fairing provides better wind resistance and enhances the bike’s modern-retro appeal with the integrated circular headlight.

Does the Thruxton 400 has any rivals?

The Thruxton 400 does not have any direct rivals purely because it is a caferacer and right now, we don’t have any in this segment. However, there are lots of other motorcycles in this segment that you may consider depending on your choice, including Triumph’s own Speed 400, Scrambler 400 X and the Scrambler 400 XC.

Is there a Motoring Pulse review of the Triumph Thruxton 400?

We are yet to ride a Thruxton 400 for reviewing purposes. Please watch this space!
