Kawasaki Versys-X 300
Priced at INR 3,49,000 ex-showroom.
What this motorcycle is?
The Kawasaki Versys-X 300 is a 300cc adventure-tourer based on the Ninja 300. The Versys-X 300 gets the same 296cc parallel-twin, liquid-cooled, DOHC, 8-valve engine that powers the mini Ninja and produces similar power and torque figures with 39 PS at 11,500 RPM and 26 NM at 10,000 RPM.
Along with this, the Versys-X 300 weighs 175 kg ready-to-ride with a high-tensile steel chassis, 41 mm telescopic front forks, and a bottom-link uni-track rear shocker. The fuel tank capacity too is the same as the Ninja 300’s 17 litres.
The biggest USP and the most unique aspect, especially today, of the Versys-X 300 is that it is the only multi-cylinder adventure-tourer in India up to 400cc. This is hugely surprising given the fact that this motorcycle was originally launched way back in 2017. This category is crowded with single-cylinders and it makes the Versys-X 300 a fantastic proposition for anyone who is interested in it.
Further, the Versys-X 300 offers riders with a typically relaxed, upright riding position that is complemented by a comfortable seat and an exceptionally smooth engine performance. All this combined provides the rider with a highly satisfying riding experience.
Does the Kawasaki Versys-X 300 has any rivals?
The KTM 390 Adventure lineup and the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 are the Versys-X 300’s biggest rivals as of today. Both these motorcycles are well-equipped to take on a variety of road surfaces as well as some decent amount of off-road riding.
The KTM 390 Adventure starts at INR 3,28,018 ex-showroom and goes up to INR 3,96,744 ex-showroom. The Himalayan 450 starts at INR 3,05,736 ex-showroom and goes up to INR 3,37,036. The Kawasaki Versys-X 300, meanwhile, is priced at INR 3,49,000 ex-showroom.
The most prominent differentiating factor between the Kawasaki and the KTM and Royal Enfield is that the KTM and RE are powered by single-cylinder engines but the Kawasaki gets a parallel-twin engine. And although the KTM and Royal Enfield’s engines are extremely capable, the Kawasaki’s twin cylinder engine is incomparably smooth. It revs to over 11,500 RPM and brings its own flavour to adventure riding.
